Patient Preparation

 

 

MRI examinations

Clothing: Patient gowns are available should your examination require you to partially disrobe. If you prefer, you may come dressed in a sweatsuit with non-metallic closings instead.

MRCP (magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography): Nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night before your examination

All other examinations: No preparation

CT examinations

Abdomen and/or pelvis CT scan: If your examination is scheduled for another day, please stop by our office and pick up a bottle of oral contrast liquid. The bottle label gives full instructions. If your examination is performed on the same day as it was scheduled, please refrain from eating or drinking anything for 4 hours prior to the appointment time. Plan to arrive at Clifton Park Advanced Imaging at least 90 minutes prior to your appointment time to begin drinking the oral contrast liquid.

Head (brain), neck, and/or chest CT scan: Nothing to eat or drink for 3 hours prior to your examination time.

Sinus, spine, and/or extremity CT scan: No preparation

Ultrasound examinations

Abdominal or gallbladder ultrasound: Nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night before your examination.

Pelvic ultrasound: Please arrive at Clifton Park Advanced Imaging with a full bladder.

All other examinations: No preparation

Plain X-ray examinations

All examinations: No preparation
