Dr. Ellis is a native of Brockton, Massachusetts. He graduated cum laude from Boston University, Boston, Massachusetts, and received his M.D. degree from the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Following internship and residency in pediatrics, Dr. Ellis completed his Diagnostic Radiology residency at the State University of New York Health Sciences Center, Syracuse. He then served a full year fellowship in nuclear radiology and abdominal imaging at SUNY Syracuse. David is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology and holds the Special Competency in Nuclear Radiology of the American Board of Radiology and the American Board of Nuclear Medicine.
Dr. Ellis was Assistant Professor of Radiology at SUNY Upstate Health Sciences Center in Syracuse, where he won the coveted E. Robert Heitzman Award for Teaching Excellence. David came to Albany in 1984, and joined the medical imaging staff of St. Peter's Hospital in 1991. Dr. Ellis has been recognized for his expertise in radiation safety issues, thoracic and abdominal imaging, and breast disease, as well as in his primary focus of nuclear radiology, including Positron Emission Tomography (PET). He is a founding Member of Clifton Park Advanced Imaging, and serves on its consulting staff.
David is a member of the American College of Radiology, New York State Radiologic Society, Society of Nuclear Medicine, Institute for Clinical PET, and Society of Breast Imaging. He and his family live in Valatie, New York. David oversees a working farm, and enjoys music and travelling.
