Richard F. Rowley, M.D., is a native of Albany. He was valedictorian of his class at Albany Academy. His undergraduate education was at Harvard University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society. Dr. Rowley attended Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina, where he was honored with election to the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society.
Rich served as resident and then Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital, New Haven, Connecticut. He attained full certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1986. Dr. Rowley then completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology, also at Yale-New Haven Hospital. During his final year of residency, he was selected as Chief Resident in Diagnostic Radiology. Rich developed particular areas of expertise in imaging of the chest, abdomen, pelvis, and musculoskeletal system, using MRI, CT, and ultrasound. Dr. Rowley received full certification by the American Board of Radiology in 1990.
Dr. Rowley returned to the Capital District in 1990, serving as staff radiologist at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, New York. He joined the medical imaging physician staff of St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany, New York, in 1991. Rich served as Chief of Medical Imaging at St. Peter’s Hospital from 1997 until 2002. Dr. Rowley is a physician advisor to Capital District Physicians Health Plan. He is a founding Member of Clifton Park Advanced Imaging, and serves on its interpretive staff.
Rich lives with his family in Castleton-on-Hudson. He enjoys skiing, boating, and mountain biking. Dr. Rowley is a member of the Radiological Society of North America, American College of Radiology, American College of Physician Executives, and American Roentgen Ray Society.
